Reports of BKU leader Rakesh Tikait's arrest are FAKE: Delhi Police

Amid reports that Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait has been arrested, the Delhi Police on Saturday stated that such reports about his arrest are fake.

Meanwhile, the police asserted that a stern action would be taken against those spreading such fake news regarding the arrest of Rakesh Tikait.

"Fake news! News related to arrest of Rakesh Tikait is incorrect. Pl stay away from such fake news/tweets. Action will be taken for spreading such false news/tweets," Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Priyanka Kashyap tweeted.

Likewise, Bhartiya Kisan Union media in-charge Dharmendra Malik clarified that Rakesh Tikait has not been arrested.

He said that Tikait was not arrested and that he was still at the Ghazipur protest site where a protest was underway against the farm laws. He also stated that there was no conflict situation at the site of protest.

On Saturday, Delhi Police tightened the security arrangements across the borders of the national capital in view of the protest march by the farmers against the Centre's three farm laws.

The representatives of farmers submitted memoranda to governors in various states.
