PTC News Desk: India thrashed Pakistan by 61 runs, with Hardik Pandya claiming the final wicket to complete a dominant all-round display. Pakistan never managed to build meaningful partnerships during the chase and were outplayed in all departments.

After being put in to bat, India posted a strong 175 for 7 on a slow R Premadasa pitch, thanks largely to Ishan Kishan’s superb 77 off 40 balls. Blending power with elegant strokeplay, Kishan anchored the innings at a crucial stage. Jasprit Bumrah then ripped through Pakistan’s top order with a fiery spell, setting the tone for a collapse as Pakistan were bowled out for 114 in 18 overs.

The win marks India’s biggest victory over Pakistan in T20 Internationals in terms of run margin and improves their head-to-head record in T20 World Cups to 8-1. The result also secures India’s place in the Super Eight stage of the tournament.

India captain Suryakumar Yadav said the team stuck to its usual style of play despite the high-pressure occasion. He felt batting first was the right call on that surface and praised Ishan for maintaining the same aggressive intent he had shown in the lead-up to the tournament.

Pakistan captain Salman Agha admitted that while the team remained committed to its spin-focused strategy, execution let them down at crucial moments. He acknowledged that the spinners may have had an off day but said the side would continue to back them, given their strong performances over the past six months.
