Viral video: Indian traveller praises gurdwara hospitality in Italy, says No One Asked My Religion | Watch

Viral video:  A video shared by an Indian traveller recounting his experience at a gurdwara in Italy’s Fondi has gone viral on social media. It has drawn widespread appreciation for the values of service and inclusivity associated with Sikh institutions.

In the clip, the traveller claims he has been on an 18-month-long journey, covering nearly 12,000 km across 20 countries to spread awareness about climate change. He said his journey began in Malta and is aimed at eventually reaching India.

Describing his stop in Fondi, he said he and his companions arrived late at night at a gurdwara, where the premises initially appeared closed. However, after calling a contact number displayed outside, a volunteer reportedly responded within minutes and arranged entry for them.

The traveller said they were offered a place to stay and served food without being asked about their background or beliefs. He highlighted that the first question he was asked upon entry was whether he had eaten “parshaad”.

He also spoke about the Sikh tradition of langar, a community kitchen system where free meals are served to everyone, regardless of religion, nationality or social status. According to him, similar experiences of warmth and support were witnessed at gurdwaras in different countries during his journey.

The video has since gained significant traction online, with many users praising the spirit of equality and selfless service. Several comments reflected personal experiences, with users describing gurdwaras as places where anyone can find food, shelter and a sense of safety without discrimination.
