PTC Web Desk: Mukesh Ambani and his family have retained their position as India’s wealthiest, with an estimated fortune of Rs 9.55 lakh crore, according to the 14th edition of the M3M Hurun India Rich List 2025, reported by The Economic Times.
Close behind, Gautam Adani and his family hold the second spot with a wealth of Rs 8.15 lakh crore, underscoring the fierce competition at the top of India’s billionaire rankings.
For the first time, Roshni Nadar Malhotra and her family have entered the top three with a net worth of Rs 2.84 lakh crore, making her the richest woman in India. The report emphasises the rise of women entrepreneurs who are reshaping India’s wealth landscape.
India’s billionaire community continues to expand rapidly, now numbering over 350 individuals — six times higher than when the list began 13 years ago. Collectively, their wealth stands at Rs 167 lakh crore, nearly half of India’s GDP.
Among young wealth creators, 31-year-old Aravind Srinivas, founder of AI startup Perplexity, emerged as the youngest billionaire with Rs 21,190 crore. Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan also entered the billionaire club for the first time with a net worth of Rs 12,490 crore.
In terms of wealth gains, Niraj Bajaj and family recorded the biggest leap, adding Rs 69,875 crore to their fortune, which now totals Rs 2.33 lakh crore.
Mumbai leads India’s billionaire map
Mumbai remains India’s billionaire capital with 451 persons, followed by New Delhi with 223 and Bengaluru with 116.
By sector, pharmaceuticals lead with 137 billionaires, followed by industrial products (132) and chemicals & petrochemicals (125).
The 2025 list also marks a surge in women’s representation, with 101 women featured, including 26 dollar billionaires. Self-made entrepreneurs continue to dominate, accounting for 66% of the list.
