With the state government delaying payment of dues to cash-strapped Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) against consumer subsidies, PSPCL employees staged protests across the state on Monday and Tuesday. The employees, who have not received salary for November, blocked main gates of PSPCL headquarters in Patiala on Tuesday.

The state government owes Rs 14,972.09 crore to the corporation against power subsidies. Of this, Rs 9,897.84 crore was to be paid by November 30. However, only Rs 3,497.58 crore has been released so far, leaving a pending amount of Rs 6,400 crore.
