Hokkaido (Japan), March 28: An earthquake of magnitude 6.1 rocked Hokkaido island in Japan on Tuesday, the National Center for Seismology stated.
Hokkaido is Japan's northernmost main island, known for its volcanoes, natural hot springs (onsen), and ski areas. The quake struck off Japan's Hokkaido island at a depth of 50 kilometres on Tuesday at 14:48:29 IST, according to the National Centre for Seismology.
The earthquake struck off the eastern coast of Aomori at a depth of about 20 kilometres, according to Kyodo News.
There have been no reported casualties. Further information is awaited.
