Indian-origin womans partner arrested seven months after her murder in Canadas Troronto

PTC News Desk: A 32-year-old man has been arrested nearly seven months after his Indian-origin partner was found murdered in Toronto, Canada.
Himanshi Khurana, 30, was found dead inside a house in Toronto on December 20. Police had described the case as an incident of “intimate partner violence.” Her partner, Abdul Ghafoori, was wanted by police on a first-degree murder charge.
Toronto Police said Ghafoori was arrested on Friday at a Toronto airport. In a statement issued on Saturday, police said officers from the fugitive squad and homicide unit worked with Canadian and international law enforcement agencies to bring him back to Canada. Police did not reveal which country he had been staying in.
The Night Himanshi Khurana Was Killed
Khurana was found dead on the morning of December 20, making her death the 40th homicide recorded in Toronto in 2025.
Police received a report of a missing woman from the Strachan Avenue and Wellington Street West area at around 10:41 pm on December 19. Officers began searching the area and found her body inside a house at around 6:30 am the next day.
After an initial investigation, police confirmed that she had been murdered.
Investigators later found that Khurana and Ghafoori were in an intimate relationship. Police then issued a Canada-wide warrant for Ghafoori's arrest and released his photograph, asking the public to provide any information that could help locate him.
