India, US, UK: Check complete of countries whose citizens are stranded in Nepal floods

The numbers are expected to change as rescue and identification efforts continue.

PTC News Desk: More than 1,400 people were still missing, while 467 deaths had been confirmed after flash floods and landslides struck the Nepal-Tibet border.


The numbers are expected to change as rescue and identification efforts continue. In major disasters, figures can fluctuate because of duplicate entries, dual nationals being counted more than once, bodies being identified, and the difficulty of collecting accurate information during the crisis.


Latest figures on those missing


Total: At least 1,468


Nepal's disaster management agency said 910 people were missing on Thursday, including at least 517 foreigners. It did not provide details about their nationalities.


On the Chinese side of the border, authorities reported 558 people missing, including 260 foreigners. Combined, the number of missing people on both sides stood at 1,468.


Nepal


New figures from the Nepal Tourism Board showed that 127 Nepali nationals were among the 667 people listed as missing. It was not immediately clear how many local residents were still unaccounted for.


China

China's Foreign Ministry said nearly 100 Chinese nationals were missing in Nepal. The Nepal Tourism Board separately reported that 24 Chinese nationals were unaccounted for.These figures were in addition to the 558 people reported missing on the Chinese side, including 260 foreigners.


India

According to the latest Nepal Tourism Board figures, 178 Indians were missing, while 11 others had been rescued.


United States

The US State Department said 90 American citizens were missing. Three had been rescued, and the department said it had no information about any US citizens being killed. Earlier on Thursday, the Nepal Tourism Board had reported 65 Americans as unaccounted for.


Ukraine


Ukraine's Foreign Ministry said 56 Ukrainians had been listed as "out of contact". The ministry said that, based on verified information, no Ukrainian nationals were among those injured or killed in the disaster.


Malaysia


Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said more than 50 Malaysians in Nepal could not be contacted. The Nepal Tourism Board put the number at 51.


Australia


Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong said on Friday that 39 Australian nationals were missing following the floods.


United Kingdom


Nepal Tourism Board figures showed that 33 British nationals were missing.


Canada


The Nepal Tourism Board reported 25 Canadians among those missing.


However, Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand said the government was aware of 30 Canadian citizens and permanent residents in Nepal and Tibet whose whereabouts and safety had not yet been confirmed.


Nationalities not yet confirmed


China's figure of 558 missing people included 260 foreigners, but authorities had not released a breakdown of their nationalities.


The Nepal Tourism Board also said that eight people whose nationalities had not yet been confirmed had been rescued.
