Operation Hawkeye: US launches large scale airstrikes against ISIS in Syria
According to US Central Command, the coordinated strikes—conducted with partner forces—took place around 12:30 pm ET and targeted several ISIS locations across Syria.
PTC News Desk: The United States has carried out another set of retaliatory airstrikes against ISIS in Syria, following an ambush last month that resulted in the deaths of two American soldiers and a US civilian interpreter.
According to US Central Command, the coordinated strikes—conducted with partner forces—took place around 12:30 pm ET and targeted several ISIS locations across Syria.
“Our message remains strong: if you harm our war fighters, we will find you and kill you anywhere in the world, no matter how hard you try to evade justice,” US Central Command said in a statement on Saturday.
These latest attacks are part of a wider campaign launched by President Donald Trump in response to the deadly assault in Palmyra that killed Sgt. Edgar Brian Torres-Tovar, Sgt. William Nathaniel Howard, and civilian interpreter Ayad Mansoor Sakat.
The operation, named Operation Hawkeye Strike, began on December 19 with another major offensive that destroyed 70 ISIS-linked sites in central Syria, including infrastructure and weapons facilities. Both Torres-Tovar and Howard served in the Iowa National Guard.
