PTC Web desk: The decomposed body of Pakistani actress and model Humaira Asghar Ali was found in her Karachi apartment last week—nearly nine months after her reported death—prompting a deepening mystery and a forensic investigation into the timeline of her final days.

According to Arab News, the body of the 32-year-old was found in a rented flat located in the upscale Ittehad Commercial area of Karachi. The discovery was made when a court-appointed bailiff entered the apartment to enforce an eviction order. What followed was a chilling revelation: an actress had died alone, with no one noticing for almost nine months.

While early post-mortem reports initially suggested she had died just a few weeks earlier, forensic experts and police investigators soon unearthed a different narrative. “Call Detail Records (CDRs) confirm that her last call was made in October 2024,” Deputy Inspector General Syed Asad Raza told Arab News. Her last activity on social media further supports the timeline—her final Facebook post was on September 11, while her last Instagram update was dated September 30, 2024.

Interviews with neighbours revealed that no one had seen her around the building since late September or early October. The timeline was further corroborated by clues inside the apartment.

Officials who inspected the flat reported expired food items, dry water taps, rusted kitchenware, and no signs of habitation beyond the fall of 2024. The lack of electricity, alternate power sources, or any attempts to maintain the space strongly suggested she passed away shortly after her last recorded utility payments in October.

The only other apartment on the same floor had remained vacant until February, which delayed the detection of any foul smell or activity. One returning resident told investigators that by the time they came back, “the odor had already faded.” An open balcony door may have also helped in dissipating any smell, making discovery even more difficult.

As of now, the police have not confirmed the cause of death. Suicide, foul play, or accidental death are all under consideration as the forensic process continues. “The investigation is ongoing and all possibilities are being examined,” the police said.

No family to claim her body

In a tragic turn, Humaira’s family has refused to claim her remains. According to reports, her relatives have cut ties with her for over two years and declined to take responsibility for her burial.

Humaira’s death bears unsettling resemblance to a recent case involving veteran actress Ayesha Khan, 84, who was also found dead in her Karachi home after days of being alone. Both incidents have sparked renewed discussion on loneliness and neglect faced by aging or isolated individuals in the entertainment industry.

Humaira Asghar Ali had worked in various television serials and appeared in two Pakistani films.
