Girl from Tarn Taran stabbed to death in London; family suspects racial attack, seeks justice

PTC Web Desk: A 24-year-old woman from Piddi village in Punjab's Tarn Taran district was allegedly stabbed to death in west London, leaving her family devastated and prompting demands for a thorough investigation into what they suspect could be a racially motivated attack.

The deceased has been identified as Kirandeep Kaur, a resident of Piddi village in the Khadoor Sahib Assembly constituency. According to her family, she had moved England nearly two years ago on a student visa and had recently completed her studies. She had reportedly started working and was planning to settle in the UK.

Family members said they received information that an unidentified man allegedly entered the house where Kirandeep was staying in Hayes, west London, and attacked her with a knife. She succumbed to her injuries.

The tragic news has left the family in shock. Relatives claimed they had sold their agricultural land and taken loans to finance Kirandeep's education abroad, hoping she would build a better future for the family and eventually help her siblings settle overseas.

Expressing suspicion over the circumstances of the killing, the family has urged the authorities to investigate the possibility of a racially motivated attack. They have appealed to the Punjab government, the Government of India and the Indian High Commission in the UK to ensure justice in the case.

The family has also requested the governments to facilitate the repatriation of Kirandeep's mortal remains so that her last rites can be performed in her native village. Citing their poor financial condition, they have sought financial assistance to help them cope with the tragedy.

Kirandeep's father Sukhdev Singh, mother Baljeet Kaur and other relatives have appealed for swift government intervention, saying they want their daughter's body brought back home at the earliest and those responsible for her death brought to justice.
