PTC Web Desk:  The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has identified 89 individuals of Indian origin in a newly released database highlighting what it describes as the “Worst of the Worst” criminal aliens. The list is part of a wider immigration enforcement drive launched during the Trump administration to spotlight foreign nationals convicted of serious crimes in the United States.

The online database, hosted on a DHS portal, contains information on nearly 25,000 persons arrested by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and US Customs and Border Protection (CBP). According to DHS, the platform is aimed at increasing public awareness about individuals with criminal convictions who are subject to immigration action.

The Indian nationals named in the database have been convicted of a wide range of offences, including sexual assault, rape, drug trafficking, robbery, fraud, kidnapping, money laundering, domestic violence, DUI, hit-and-run cases, and drug possession. Other charges listed include smuggling, larceny, and physical assault.

DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said the initiative is meant to ensure transparency and allow citizens to understand who is being removed from American communities under immigration enforcement measures.

The release of the database comes amid a broader crackdown on illegal immigration under the Trump administration, which had declared a national emergency at the southern US border. As part of the policy push, additional troops were deployed and enforcement agencies were granted expanded authority to detain and deport undocumented immigrants with criminal records.
