US-Israel-Iran war: The head of Iran's intelligence agency Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, Major General Majid Khademi, was reportedly killed in a joint airstrike by US and Israel, according to Iranian state media.

The IRGC confirmed his death stating that he was killed in an attack carried out at dawn, as multiple airstrikes hit areas in and around the Iranian capital.

High-intensity explosions were reported across Tehran after low-flying jets struck several locations, including residential areas. Thick plumes of smoke were seen emanating near Azadi Square, with one strike reportedly hitting near the Sharif University of Technology.

Iran's IRGC has directly blamed both the US and Israel for the strike that killed its chief without disclosing specific location.

Notably the killing marks significant escalation in already raging conflict.

In response, Iran fired missiles at Israel and some Gulf countries.

Attacks were reported in Haifa in northern Israel, where at least two people were killed. At the same time, countries like Kuwait, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia activated their air defence systems to stop incoming missiles and drones.

Tensions are also increasing over the Strait of Hormuz, an important route for global oil trade.

US President Donald Trump has warned Iran to reopen the route and threatened to strike important infrastructure if it doesn’t. Iran has hinted it may widen its response, possibly targeting key waterways in the region.

The conflict has already affected energy supplies and caused global oil prices to rise.

Iranian military officials warned that if attacks on civilians continue, they will respond more strongly. They said future attacks would be bigger and target enemy interests across the region.
