Iran-Israel war: America destroys Iran’s tallest B1 bridge in Karaj; eight dead
Iran-Israel war: The US has destroyed Iran’s tallest bridge in a strike, just hours after President Donald Trump warned of stronger military action against the country. The bridge, known as B1, is located in Karaj, near Tehran. Iranian officials said the attack killed at least eight persons and injured 95 others.
Ghodratollah Seif, Deputy Governor of Alborz Province, confirmed the casualties, according to Iranian state TV and the Fars news agency. However, due to restrictions, international media have not been able to independently verify the damage or the number of casualties.
Trump also shared a video on social media showing smoke rising from the bridge. He warned that more attacks could happen if Iran does not agree to end the ongoing war.
He said the bridge had collapsed and would “never be used again,” adding that Iran should make a deal soon or face more destruction.
Iran strongly reacted to the strike. Abbas Araghchi said targeting civilian structures like bridges would not force Iran to surrender. He added that such actions show weakness and moral failure.
Iranian state TV reported that the bridge was hit twice. The second strike happened when rescue teams had already reached the spot to help victims of the first attack.
The B1 bridge was still under construction and is believed to be the tallest in West Asia, with a height of about 136 meters.
A day earlier, Trump had said in a national speech that the war, which began on February 28 involving the United States and Israel, could end soon. At the same time, he warned that Iran could face very heavy bombing if it does not accept his demands.
