First Indian Army jawan tests positive for coronavirus

An Army jawan from Ladakh has become the first positive case of coronavirus (COVID 19) in the Indian Army. The senior Army sources confirmed that the Indian Army Lance Naik from Ladakh Scouts has been tested positive for Coronavirus. Meanwhile, Ladakh has reported a total of 8 confirmed cases and all of them are Indian nationals.

Jawan's father returned from Iran

According to the information, the father of 34-year-old jawan from Ladakh Scouts had travelled to Iran for the pilgrimage. He returned to India on February 27. As per the sources, his father was quarantined from February 29 at Ladakh Heart Foundation and was reported positive for coronavirus on March 6. He was isolated at the local SNM hospital.

Jawan's sister, wife and two children in quarantine

As per the report, the jawan was on casual leave from February 25 to March 1. He rejoined on March 2. The sources also revealed that though the jawan had rejoined from his leave but he was helping his family during the quarantine period. He was staying at his Chuchot village for a time as well, the sources revealed. Meanwhile, the soldier's sister, wife and two children are also quarantined at SNM Heart Foundation. Coronavirus in India

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday stated that the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in India has jumped to 147 - comprising 122 Indian nationals and 25 foreign nationals (as on 18.03.2020 at 09:00 AM). Also, India has witnessed three deaths due to the pandemic so far. -PTC News
