Covid-19: India logs 3,688 new cases in 24 hours
New Delhi, April 30: India reported a slight increase in coronavirus cases, recording 3,688 new Covid-19 infections in the last 24 hours, said the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Saturday. The country had reported as many as 3,377 Covid-19 cases on Friday. The Health Ministry informed that the active caseload in the country has risen to 18,684, accounting for 0.04 percent of the total cases. A total of 2,755 Covid-19 patients recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries since the beginning of the pandemic to 4,25,33,377. The recovery rate stands at 98.74 percent. With 4,96,640 Covid-19 tests performed in the last 24 hours, the cumulative tally has jumped to 83.74 crore tests. India reported 50 Covid-related deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative death tally to 5,23,803. The daily cases positivity rate saw an uptick from 0.71 percent (on Friday) to 0.74 percent (on Saturday). The weekly positivity rate was increased from 0.63 percent (on Friday) to 0.66 percent (on Saturday).

With this, the total number of vaccine shots administered under the nationwide vaccination drive so far went up to 1,88,89,90,935. Meanwhile, over 19.43 crore balanced and unutilised vaccine doses are still available with the States and Union Territories, said the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. "More than 193.28 crore (1,93,28,90,965) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through Govt. of India (free of cost channel) and through direct state procurement category," the ministry informed. It further added that "More than 19.43 Cr (19,43,60,715) balance and unutilized COVID Vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered."
