After clashes, Punjab govt transfers Patiala IG, SSP and SP

Chandigarh, April 30: The Punjab government transferred the Inspector General of Police (IG) Patiala range, Patiala Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), and Superintendent of Police (SP) with immediate effect on the orders of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday. As per the latest orders from CM Bhagwant Mann, Patiala IG Rakesh Agrawal, Patiala SSP Nanak Singh, and Patiala SP Harpal Singh have been transferred with immediate effect.

According to a spokesperson for the Chief Minister's Office, Mukhwinder Singh Chinna has been named as the new IG Patiala, Deepak Parik as the new SSP, and Wazir Singh as the new SP of Patiala.  ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਆਈਜੀ, ਐਸਐਸਪੀ ਤੇ ਐੱਸਪੀ ਸਿਟੀ ਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਤਬਾਦਲਾ The decision comes a day after CM Mann met with the DGP and other senior officials to discuss the Patiala violence incident. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann further ordered an immediate investigation into the case and directed the officials to nab the culprits at the earliest. DGP has been directed to keep a close watch on the law and order situation. "The incident of clashes in Patiala is deeply unfortunate. I have spoken to the DGP; peace has been restored in the area. We are closely monitoring the situation and will not let anyone create disturbance in the state," CM Mann tweeted. However, while the police are currently investigating the situation, an FIR has been registered against the Pro-Khalistan elements in Patiala, and efforts are being made to identify the people using video footage.
