PTC Web Desk: Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has called for greater awareness among school students about cybercrime, sharing a personal incident involving his daughter.
Speaking recently, Akshay Kumar recounted that a few months ago, his daughter was playing an online video game that allows interaction with unknown players. During the game, she received a message asking about her gender, to which she replied “female.” The stranger then sent an inappropriate message requesting nude pictures. Fortunately, she immediately switched off the game and informed her mother.
“This is how such crimes begin. This is also a part of cybercrime,” Kumar said. Highlighting the increasing prevalence of digital threats, he appealed to the Maharashtra Chief Minister to introduce a weekly ‘cyber period’ in schools for students of seventh to tenth grades. He emphasised that cybercrime is rapidly growing, surpassing traditional street crimes, and educating children is crucial to prevent it.
Akshay Kumar’s suggestion comes amid growing concerns over online safety for minors, with experts noting that awareness and preventive education are essential in tackling cyber exploitation.
