Pakistani fan breaks Guinness World Record for naming Taylor Swift songs

Guinness World Record: “To my fans... You dare the longest and best relationship I've ever had," Taylor Swift’s famous quote has proved that the world is “die-hard fan” of highly acclaimed American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift as 20-year-old Pakistani Swiftie Bilal Ilyas Jhandir, recently made headlines for achieving a Guinness World Record.

Devoted Taylor Swift fan clinched the Guinness World Record for identifying the most Taylor Swift songs from their lyrics in one minute. The enthusiast from Pakistan successfully named an impressive total of 34 songs, surpassing the previous record of 27 set by Dan Simpson (UK) in 2019.

What was the challenge? 

The challenge was to identify Taylor Swift’s top 50 best-selling songs compiled into a randomised list. Pakistani Swiftie was tasked to identify the songs solely from its initial lyrics, read aloud by a person without any accompanying music.

Motivated by his "extraordinary love" for Taylor Swift, Bilal clinched the Guinness World Record as he deemed it the "best way on Earth" to express his deep admiration for the artist, who herself holds multiple Guinness World Records titles.

“I have been listening to Taylor Swift since my childhood. I am a die-hard fan of her,” Bilal revealed. “I have listened to each and every song of hers. I can identify almost any song of hers from the lyrics,” Swiftie said. 

How Bilal Ilyas Jhandir prepared for the challenge? 

Bilal Ilyas Jhandir dedicated 13 weeks to extensive preparation for his record attempt, aiming for the highest possible score. His preparation included immersive listening sessions, to the extent that the songs became deeply ingrained in his mind, with Bilal even finding he reciting lyrics aloud in his sleep also. 
He further admits that having the lyrics spoken by a man, instead of sung by Swift, added an extra layer of difficulty.

Bilal has been listening to Taylor Swift’s songs since the age of 13 and expressed admiration for Taylor Swift's exceptional songwriting, noting how her songs consistently resonate deeply with him.
“The thing I like the most about her is her way of writing out-of-this-world songs that always hit the bottom of my heart,” he said.

Other Achievements of Bilal 

This isn’t Bilal’s first time for breaking records. Pakistani fan secured third Guinness World Records title, adding to his previous achievements. In 2021, he earned his first title for identifying the most animals from their sounds in one minute (23). ). Last year, he broke the record for identifying the most Justin Bieber songs from their lyrics in one minute (29), surpassing the previous record by seven
