Ex-IAS, Army officers extend support to 'Kisan Sansad'

Farmers have been protesting against the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020; the Farmers Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and farm Services Act 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.

Kisan Sansad: The Kirti Kisan Forum comprising retired IAS, IPS, and Army officers on Friday extended its support to the ongoing farmers’ protest at Jantar Mantar in the national capital.

The forum members said the farmers had been raising their issues in a peaceful manner.

The Forum challenged the supporters of the three farm bills to debate the pros and cons of the new legislation on any platform in the presence of the media.

Announcing their plan to join the 'Kisan Sansad' for a day, the forum members said political leaders cutting across party lines had extended their support to farmers and farm labourers.

On the occasion, the retired officers paid homage to hundreds of farmers who died during the ongoing farmers' protest. They also condoled the untimely demise of Jugraj Singh Gill, former chairman of the Mandi Board.

Among others who attended the meeting were MPS Aulakh, former Punjab DGP, GPS Sahi, Brig Harwant Singh, Brig Inder Mohan Singh, DS Bains, Kulbir Sidhu, Harkesh Sidhu, GK Singh and Iqbal Singh Sidhu.
