Farmers' protest: Bharat Bandh today; road transport affected

Farmers Protest: Farmers have been observing Bharat Bandh today in an order to mark four months of their agitation against Centre's farm laws. Bharat Bandh today, called by Samyukta Kisan Morcha, will be observed till 6 pm. Meanwhile, roads and trains were blocked except for ambulance and other essential services. As per the statement issued by Samyukta Kisan Morcha, the shutdown has been called for the repeal of farm laws, for law on MSP and procurement, cancellation of all police cases against farmers, rollback of "electricity bill and pollution bill" and for reduction of petrol, diesel and gas prices. The call for farmers' Bharat Bandh has been given from 6am till 6pm. During this, the markets, rail transport and other public places across the nation have been closed. While farmers have blocked the roads and highways but they are making sure they let Ambulance drivers pass without any inconvenience. Even as the farmers provided way to those from essential services. Meanwhile, Indian Railways said in a statement that the protesters have been sitting at 31 locations across Punjab and Haryana spanning Delhi, Ambala and Firozepur division affecting rail movement. The train services have been affected at 32 locations while 4 Shatabdi trains have been cancelled. Farmers have been protesting against the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020; the Farmers Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
