IPL 2020: Anil Kumble appointed as head coach for KXIP

Indian Premier League franchise, Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) has named former Indian skipper Anil Kumble as head coach for IPL 2020. Kumble, who resigned as head coach of the Indian team following the loss to Pakistan in the finals of 2017 ICC Championship Trophy, has joined KXIP on a two-year contract. As per the report, he was named the coach after Mike Hesson left the franchise to become RCB’s director for the forthcoming season. The former leg-spinner earlier played the role of mentor at Royal Challengers, Bangalore after he took retirement as a player. He has also mentored the Mumbai Indians franchise before being appointed as head coach for the Indian cricket team. KXIP is one of the three franchises alongside Delhi Capitals (formerly Delhi Daredevils) and Royal Challengers, Bangalore, who have never won the Indian Premier League.
