2 CRPF personnel killed in attack by Kuki militants in Manipur
PTC News Desk: Two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were martyred in an attack by Kuki militants in Manipur's Naransena, according to police. The CRPF personnel were attacked by Kuki militants starting from Friday midnight till 2:15 am.
The personnel who succumbed were members of the CRPF 128 Battalion, which was stationed in the Naransena area of Bishnupur district in the state.
Higher turnout witnesses in 2nd phase of Lok Sabha polls
Meanwhile, Manipur Chief Electoral Officer Pradeep Kumar Jha highlighted higher turnout and fewer incidents of violence in Outer Manipur during the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections on Friday.
"Till the last report, which we received about an hour ago, the voting percentage was in the range of 75%, with no major hiccups reported," said the Manipur Chief Electoral Officer.
He also stated that people turned out in large numbers to exercise their franchise during the second phase of voting. One instance of an Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) malfunctioning was reported at a polling booth, but no major issues were reported.
