PTC Web Desk: As many as 15 Indian nationals are set to be deported from Australia, with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann confirming that a majority of them belong to his state. The group, which includes one woman, is expected to arrive in New Delhi early tomorrow morning, where the Chief Minister plans to personally receive them.

According to the preliminary list shared with the state government, 11 of the deportees are from Punjab, while the remaining individuals belong to Telangana, Haryana, and Uttarakhand. Officials said the list currently mentions only their home states, with further details likely to emerge after their arrival.

CM Mann said the state government has already begun preparing for their return and will extend necessary support. He emphasised that deportation is a distressing experience and that the focus would be on assisting the returnees while also understanding the circumstances that led to their migration.

CM Mann said they would speak to them in detail to find out how their documents were arranged and who facilitated their travel abroad. If required, they would coordinate with the Ministry of External Affairs and a thorough probe would be conducted to identify agents or networks involved.

The Chief Minister also indicated that some of the individuals may have faced legal issues in Australia. Without elaborating, he noted that violations of foreign laws inevitably invite action and stressed the need for greater awareness among those seeking opportunities overseas.

He assured that the Punjab Government would help the deportees with documentation and rehabilitation measures upon their return.
