Air India flight catches fire mid-air; full emergency declared at IGI airport
PTC News Desk: An Air India flight from Delhi to Bangalore allegedly caught fire mid-air, leading to a full emergency at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport at around 5:52 pm. Reportedly, a fire was reported in the AC unit of the flight.
The flight was carrying 175 passengers when the incident took place. The flight landed safely at around 6.38 pm.
According to an airline official, alternative arrangements are being made for the passengers to fly to Bengaluru.
According to Delhi Fire Services officials, three fire tenders have been pressed into service. "We received a call from IGI Airport at 6.15 pm regarding a fire. We pressed three fire tenders," the DFS official informed on Friday.
