Bihar Hooch Tragedy: 20 die after consuming spurious liquor; 3 arrested

Bihar Hooch Tragedy: At least 20 people died on Thursday after consuming spurious liquor in Bihar's Siwan.

Chapra Superintendent Kumar Ashish stated that a Special Investigation Team has been established and three people have been arrested so far. FIR has been lodged against eight people.

Additionally, local Chowkidar and Panchayat Beat Police personnel have been suspended. An explanation is sought from the SHO of the Masrak Police Station and the Masrak Zone ALTF in charge of the departmental action.

According to District Magistrate Mukul Kumar Gupta, legal action is being taken against Bhagwanpur Police Station's SHO and Prohibition ASI.

In another incidence, four people died after consuming spurious liquor in the Saran area. We formed a SIT and filed a FIR against eight people. Three people have already been arrested: Chhapra SP, Kumar Ashish said.

Meanwhile, the opposition RJD has launched an attack on the Nitish Kumar government, questioning how spurious liquor was made available despite it being illegal in the state.

"People have died as a result of consuming spurious liquor. It is really unfortunate and concerning that, despite the fact that an alcohol ban law is in place in Bihar, fake liquor is available. It is common to see people die during Holi and Diwali as a result of spurious liquor. The NDA government is entirely responsible for this. The government protects the liquor mafias, and as long as they do, the prohibition law will be abused in the same manner.
