Char Dham Yatra: Impacted by rain and snowfall day after commencement

PTC News Desk: Just one day after the start of the Char Dham Yatra, Uttarakhand experienced intense rains today. The pilgrims on the daring pilgrimage faced challenges because to the abrupt change in the weather.

In the Ganga valley, where the Gangotri temple is one of the Char Dham Yatra's pilgrimage destinations along with Yamunotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath, it has been pouring heavily.

A day before the doors of the hallowed temple are set to open, the weather in Badrinath also changed today, with rain falling in the low-lying parts and snow falling on the higher slopes. Earlier in the day, throngs of worshippers were forced to wait in lengthy lines for hours on the steep route to Yamunotri. The followers held the government responsible for the inadequate oversight.

The temples at Yamunotri, Kedarnath, and Gangotri opened their doors to worshipers Wednesday, marking the start of the Char Dham Yatra. Yesterday, the doors to Kedarnath and Yamyunotri opened at 7 a.m., while hundreds of worshippers witnessed the Gangotri temple's door open at 12:25 p.m.

Thousands of devotees gather for the yatra every year between April and May and October and November.
