CJP leaders' detention: Why Delhi Police chose women cops to detain Dipke, Ranka and Das from flight
PTC News Desk: Dramatic scenes unfolded at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on Saturday when Air India’s flight carrying Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka landed. The leaders had arrived ahead of the group’s planned protest at Jantar Mantar.
Soon after the plane landed, Delhi Police personnel boarded the aircraft and detained the three leaders. The deployment of women police officers to carry out the detention drew attention, although it is not clear whether this was a deliberate strategy.
Police may have wanted to avoid a confrontation by deploying women officers instead of male personnel. The narrow aisles inside an aircraft leave little room for movement, and even a minor scuffle could quickly create chaos. The decision may have been aimed at preventing the situation from escalating.

Apart from a few heated exchanges, the three leaders were detained without any major disturbance.
How were the CJP leaders detained?
As police officers entered the aircraft, Dipke began recording the incident from his window seat. Das was sitting in the middle seat, with Ranka beside him.
Videos recorded inside the aircraft showed women police officers surrounding the CJP leaders. Dipke questioned why the police had chosen to detain them inside the plane instead of waiting for them to get off. “You can see where the nation is heading. They are here to arrest us directly from the flight. This is something not even Indira Gandhi had done. This is dictatorship,” Dipke said in the video.
He also told the officers that he had come prepared to be arrested and asked them to proceed. Meanwhile, the women officers repeatedly urged the leaders to cooperate.
Dipke, Das and Ranka were subsequently taken to an undisclosed location.
The incident comes as the CJP called for a second protest at Jantar Mantar, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The party condemned the detention of its leaders, describing it as “authoritarian”.
