Class 12 student found dead with burn injuries at Delhi school, three-page note recovered

PTC News Desk: A Class 12 student was reportedly found in a burnt condition at a government school in Krishna Nagar, in Delhi’s Shahdara district, on Saturday. Police have recovered a three-page note and launched an investigation into the incident.

The police have not officially confirmed whether the 17-year-old student has died or provided an update on her current condition.

According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), the incident came to light after the police received a PCR call reporting a fire at the school. Officers from Krishna Nagar police station reached the spot and found the student behind the school’s guard room in a burnt condition. Her age was confirmed by her family, the DCP said.

During the preliminary investigation, police recovered certain materials from the scene and the student’s school bag. A crime scene team was called in to examine the location and collect evidence.

Three-page note recovered

Preliminary reports suggest that a three-page note was recovered from the student. There are also reports that she may have brought a bottle containing a chemical substance, possibly petrol, to the school. However, the police have not officially confirmed these details, and the contents of the note have not been disclosed.

Fire brigade personnel and police officers were present at the school as authorities began investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Fire officer Anoop Singh said the cause of the fire had not yet been established and that one fire tender had been sent to the school.

“We received a call that a child had set a fire inside a school. Upon arriving at the scene and entering the school, we found a child who had been burned, lying behind a water tank. We don’t know her exact age, but she was in the 12th grade. Only one vehicle from our team arrived. It is not yet clear what was used to start the fire. She was taken away by an ambulance; the hospital will be able to provide details on what happened,” he said.

The DCP said the sequence of events leading to the incident was being examined and that further investigation was underway. Police are analysing the evidence collected from the scene to establish what happened. Further details are awaited.
