Delhi-NCR receives light rain, cold wave to prevail in north India till Jan 27

PTC News Desk: Early Wednesday saw light rainfall in some parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) as North India continued to grapple with a persistent cold wave. Unyielding in its grip, the cold wave is expected to persist until January 27, offering little respite to the region.

In the early hours of Wednesday, Delhi and its neighboring areas in the NCR experienced light rainfall. However, the cold wave conditions showed no signs of relenting, enveloping the national capital and several other locations in north India.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned that dense to very dense fog conditions would likely persist during the night and morning hours in parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh until January 27 (Saturday). Delhi was also predicted to experience dense fog in isolated places until January 27.

Rain Alert In Punjab

Thin to thick fog blanketed various parts of north India, contributing to reduced visibility. The IMD highlighted the possibility of dense to very dense fog for a few hours during the night and morning in isolated pockets of Bihar until January 25, with subsequent days anticipating dense fog in select areas of the state.

In Madhya Pradesh, dense fog conditions were expected in the morning hours in isolated pockets until January 26. Additionally, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Tripura were likely to experience dense fog until January 25.

The Met Department indicated that cold day to severe cold day conditions would persist in many parts of Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh on January 24, extending to some parts on the 25th. Cold day conditions in isolated pockets of these states were anticipated until January 27. Similar conditions were predicted in isolated pockets of West Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and East Rajasthan on January 24.

Furthermore, Bihar was expected to witness cold day conditions in isolated pockets from January 24 to 27, while isolated pockets in Madhya Pradesh were forecasted to experience cold day conditions on January 24. The prevailing weather pattern indicates an enduring stretch of cold and foggy conditions across North India until the end of January.
