Ex Congress aid amongst two held for espionage, shared sensitive information to Pakistan

PTC News Desk: A government employee and former personal assistant to a senior Congress leader was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly spying for Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). 


The suspect has been identified as Sakur Khan Mangaliaya who was detained from a government department office in Jaisalmer. Khan is a resident of Jaisalmer district, and is currently employed in the state’s employment office. Shakoor Khan was on duty in the district administration control room of the during Operation Sindoor.

The arrest follows credible input from the intelligence about his involvment in suspicious activities and he was being monitored for some time over his alleged connection with a Pakistani Embassy official and possible links with the ISI.

"Based on inputs from higher headquarters about his involvement in suspicious activities, we have detained him for verification and questioning," said Sudhir Chaudhary, Superintendent of Police, confirming the detention.

Meanwhile, another man has been arrested from Himachal Pradesh's Kangra on charges of espionage. The suspect has been identified as Abhishek who is a native of Dehra. He was held just three kilometres away from Shri Mata Chintpurni Temple on Una-Kangra districts border.

The man has been accused of allegedly spying and providing intelligence information to Pakistan. The police have recovered several key evidences related to spying establishing his links to ISI.
