PTC Web Desk: At least 10 Army personnel lost their lives and seven others were injured after a military vehicle plunged into a deep gorge in the Bhaderwah area of Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. According to officials, the vehicle was carrying 17 soldiers and was en route to a high-altitude post when the driver reportedly lost control.

The vehicle skidded off the road and fell nearly 200 feet into a gorge at Khanni Top along the Bhaderwah–Chamba interstate road. Rescue teams from the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police immediately launched a joint operation despite challenging terrain and adverse weather conditions. Initially, four soldiers were confirmed dead, but the death toll later increased as the rescue operation progressed.

Several of the injured sustained critical injuries and were airlifted to the Udhampur military hospital for specialised medical treatment. First aid was administered at the accident site before the injured personnel were evacuated.

Senior officials said rescue efforts continued for several hours due to the difficult location of the accident site.
