Karni Sena chief killing: Police sources have disclosed the intricate details of the conspiracy behind the assassination of Rajput leader and Karni Sena chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, shedding light on how the sinister plan unfolded step by step.
CCTV footage captured Gogamedi at his Jaipur residence on December 5, engaged in a conversation with four men. Abruptly, during the discussion, two of the men rose from their chairs and shot him.
Rajasthan gangster Rohit Godara, believed to be residing in Canada and closely linked to the gangs of Goldie Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi, emerged as the mastermind behind the plot. These gangs were associated with the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala last year.
Godara, currently living in Canada, assigned the task of assassinating Gogamedi and hiring a shooter to his lieutenant, Virendra Charan. The roots of their association traced back to their time served together in a Rajasthan jail during a rape case. Investigations revealed that Godara harboured resentment against Gogamedi for his alleged involvement in filing a rape case against him. Charan exploited Godara's anger and motivated him to eliminate Gogamedi.
In jail, Charan enlisted the services of Nitin Fauji as the second shooter. Seeking a settlement abroad, Fauji sought Charan's guidance, who promised assistance upon completing the assigned "job."
Both shooters meticulously planned the assassination and maintained contact with Charan before and after the incident. Charan facilitated the transportation of guns to Jaipur, where the shooters later concealed the weapons near a city hotel. Police are actively working to recover the concealed firearms.
Initial investigations hinted at a property dispute between Godara and Gogamedi, along with a potential caste equation as contributing factors. The shocking murder, captured on CCTV, ignited widespread protests in Rajasthan amid the political transition following the BJP's victory in the recent assembly elections.
The BJP, awaiting the appointment of a Chief Minister in the state, has called for a National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into the assassination, raising concerns of a larger conspiracy.
