Kerala Ashram case: Two arrested for 'assaulting' American woman
Thiruvananthapuram, August 02: A distressing incident took place in Kerala when a 44-year-old American woman, who was staying at an ashram, was reportedly sexually assaulted by two men. Authorities revealed that the suspects, Nikhil and Jayan, have been apprehended following the incident.
The unfortunate incident occurred on Monday while the woman was relaxing on a beach near Kollam. Two men approached her and offered a cigarette, but she declined their offer. Subsequently, they struck up a conversation with her and showed her a bottle of liquor. Under the guise of friendship, they then lured her to a house and offered her more drinks, which eventually led her to fall into a slumber.
When the woman woke up, she realised with horror that she had been sexually assaulted. She immediately informed the ashram authorities, who promptly reported the matter to the local police.
Taking swift action, the police apprehended the two suspects, Nikhil and Jayan, from the locality and recorded their arrests. The incident has sparked outrage and concern among the community, emphasizing the need for safety measures and awareness regarding such crimes.
Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation to ensure justice is served to the victim, and the two arrested individuals will face the full force of the law for their alleged heinous act.
