Key AAP candidates meet at Kejriwal's residence amid 'operation lotus' claims
PTC News Desk: A day ahead of the results of Delhi assembly elections, AAP supremo has called for a meeting of all the 70 candidates and senior leaders at party chief Arvind Kejriwal's residence in national capital amid allegations levelled against BJP of poaching AAP's candidates.
The Aam Aadmi Party chief and former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has accused BJP of poaching his party's candidates ahead of Delhi assembly poll results on February 8.
In line with the allegations, AAP candidates have been instructed to record any sort of phone calls or in person contact with BJP leaders to gather evidence of poaching claims. The candidates have also been instructed to stay vigilant on the day of results. Every candidate has been assigned with their own seat to analyse Form 17C, which gives an overview of voter turnout figures.
Earlier in a post on X, Kejriwal claimed that 16 Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidates had received offers from the BJP with the promise of ministerial positions and Rs 15 crore each if they switch sides.
"Some agencies are showing that the abusive party (BJP) is getting more than 55 seats. In the last two hours, 16 of our candidates have received calls that if they leave the AAP and join their party, they will be made ministers and given Rs 15 crore each," Kejriwal said in his post.
"If they are indeed winning more than 55 seats, why are they calling up our candidates? These fake surveys are a conspiracy to create an atmosphere to break AAP candidates. But not a single one of them will switch sides," he asserted.
The development comes after AAP claimed that BJP attempted to poach its candidates ahead of the results and offered Rs 15 crore to seven of its candidates to switch sides. However saffron party has refuted such allegation while asserting that AAP has been making baseless claims due to its frustration over impending electoral defeat.
