Missing JEE aspirant from Kota found in Himachal's Dharamshala after 11 days

PTC Web Desk: A 17-year-old JEE aspirant who went missing from his hostel in Kota, Rajasthan, on February 13 has been located in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, after 11 days of extensive search efforts, as per a report in NDTV. Piyush, originally from Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh, had been staying in a Kota hostel for two years, preparing for the IIT-JEE exams. Concerns were raised when he disappeared, prompting swift action from both family members and the authorities to find the missing student.

Senior police officer Amrita Duhan explained that the search operation spanned various locations, with teams following leads and gathering information about Piyush's whereabouts. The breakthrough occurred when intelligence suggested he might be in Dehradun, leading to teams being dispatched to both Dehradun and Haridwar to locate him.

Piyush was eventually tracked to Dharamshala, where the police collaborated with the Kota Police to take him into custody. Family members accompanied the police team. Currently, Piyush's mental condition is reported to be unstable, and he is unwilling to provide information. The police plan to bring him back to Kota for counseling, and further questioning will aim to uncover the circumstances that led him from Kota to Dharamshala.

The disappearance began on February 13, with Piyush's last contact being a conversation with his mother. He subsequently stopped answering calls, turned off his phone, and did not return to his hostel room after a test. Concerned for his well-being, the family reported him missing, discovering that he had scored only 13 percentile in the recent JEE-Mains exam. CCTV footage from the Kota railway station showed Piyush carrying a bag as the last visual trace before his disappearance.
