Mumbai family death mystery: Four die after eating biryani and watermelon in Paydhuni
PTC Web Desk: A shocking incident from Mumbai’s Paydhuni area has left four members of a family dead, with initial suspicion pointing towards food poisoning. The deceased have been identified as Abdullah Dokadia (40), his wife Nasreen (35), and their two daughters, Ayesha (16) and Zainab (13). According to the police, the family had hosted relatives at their residence on April 25 and shared a meal together.
Officials said after the relatives left around 10.30 pm, the family later consumed watermelon during the night. Within a few hours, all four began experiencing severe health issues, including vomiting and diarrhoea.
Their condition reportedly worsened rapidly in the early hours of the morning. They were first taken to a nearby medical facility and later shifted to JJ Hospital for advanced treatment. Despite efforts by doctors, all four succumbed.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Pravin Munde confirmed that an accidental death report has been registered at JJ Marg Police Station. He stated that food and biological samples have been collected as part of the investigation.
A local resident, Dr Zaid Qureshi, said the family’s condition deteriorated suddenly overnight, leaving little time for effective medical intervention.
While food poisoning remains a primary line of inquiry, the police have not ruled out other possibilities. Officials said that the exact cause of death will only be established after forensic and postmortem reports are examined.
