Nuh demolition drive: Hotel from where stones were pelted at religious procession demolished

Nuh demolition drive: On the fourth day of the massive demolition drive against Haryana's Nuh, the district administration brought in bulldozers to raze Sahara Hotel. The local authority claims that the Sahara restaurant was built illegally and that hooligans threw stones from there during the recent conflict.

The Sahara Family Restaurant, as well as more than 45 more structures, including homes, pharmacies, mobile repair shops, and shanties, have been demolished.

Six people have died as a result of the communal violence that erupted on July 31, including two home guards and a cleric. The riots began when a mob attempted to disrupt a Vishva Hindu Parishad procession and have since spread to Gurugram. The demolitions began when the state home minister referred to bulldozers as a 'treatment' solution for the communal confrontations.

Bulldozer action has been held in several locations across Nuh for three days, and sources suggest that authorities are targeting illegal encroachments that have been unable to be removed for several years.

Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij has claimed that the violence was the result of a "big game plan," but he has also dismissed opposition charges of intelligence failure. However, Nuh Superintendent of Police said they have uncovered no evidence of a mastermind behind the clashes so far.

So far, 106 first information reports (FIRs) have been filed, and over 216 people have been arrested; 24 FIRs have been filed in relation to social media posts, and four people have been arrested for content that may have contributed to violence.
