PM Modi in Kerala; attends wedding of Suresh Gopi's daughter

PTC Web Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a two-day visit to Kerala, marked by a series of events that included offering prayers at the revered Sreekrishna Temple in Guruvayur on January 17. The Prime Minister's visit began with his arrival at the Sreekrishna College ground in Guruvayur, where a large crowd gathered to extend a warm welcome. Thrissur district administration and BJP leaders were on hand to receive him.

After arriving by helicopter from Kochi, Kerela, at 7.30 am, Prime Minister Modi took a moment to rest at the Sree Valsam Guest House. The Guruvayur Devaswom Management Committee received him there. Subsequently, he proceeded to the Sreekrishna Temple, where he engaged in prayers and made offerings, including ghee and lotus flowers at the Sopanam. Prime Minister Narendra Modi spent approximately 30 minutes immersed in the spiritual atmosphere of the temple.

Following his visit to the temple, Prime Minister Modi attended the wedding ceremony of Bhagya, daughter of BJP leader and actor Suresh Gopi, with Thiruvananthapuram-based businessman Shreyas. The Prime Minister, present at the ceremony for nearly 20 minutes, played a significant role by offering blessings and handing over garlands to the newlyweds. The wedding was attended by prominent film actors, including Mammootty and Mohanlal, along with their families.

Having spent around two hours in Guruvayur, Prime Minister Modi proceeded to Thriprayar Sree Ramaswamy Temple by 9.30 a.m. The strategic timing and significance of the Prime Minister's presence at Suresh Gopi's daughter's wedding cannot be overlooked, particularly in the context of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. There is speculation about Suresh Gopi being considered as the BJP candidate from Thrissur, a constituency that holds high hopes for the BJP in Kerala.

This visit marks Prime Minister Modi's second appearance in Thrissur district within two weeks. Earlier, on January 3, he participated in a Women's Conference organised by the BJP state unit, expressing gratitude for the passage of the Women's Reservation Bill. The back-to-back visits underscore the political importance the BJP places on Thrissur, pointing to a focused effort to strengthen its presence in the region in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections.
