PTC News Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day speech focused heavily on young people, reforms and India’s future. The address came shortly after major student protests over exam paper leaks.
Speaking from the Red Fort, PM Modi talked about the goal of making India a developed nation, or ‘Viksit Bharat’, by 2047. He also stressed the importance of self-reliance, especially in areas such as semiconductors, critical minerals and energy security.

A major part of PM Modi’s 75-minute speech was aimed at the country’s youth. He announced plans to train one crore young people in Artificial Intelligence (AI). He also announced free online coaching for competitive exams, especially to reduce the financial burden on poor and middle-class families.

PM Modi introduced a seven-point roadmap called ‘Saptdhara’ for building a developed India. The framework is meant to guide the country’s progress towards the goal of Viksit Bharat.

PM Modi also spoke about what he described as a new challenge: “dimaagi naxals” or people with a Naxal mindset. He said that while armed Naxalism has been largely dealt with, ideological forces with such thinking still exist in influential positions. He called for such elements to be identified and isolated.
The Prime Minister also stressed the need for greater representation of women in policymaking and urged political parties to put aside their differences to ensure 33% reservation for women in Parliament and state assemblies.
