Punjab weather update: Rainfall alert in Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana & Delhi
Punjab weather update: Punjab along with Chandigarh, Haryana and Delhi is likely to witness rainfall along with moderate thunderstorms. Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday issued an alert for several locations including Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
Taking to X, the department stated that thunderstorms with light to moderate intensity rain and gusty winds over isolated areas with speeds of 30-50 km/h would occur over and adjacent to many places in Delhi, NCR (Bahadurgarh, Noida, Greater Noida, Gurugram, Manesar), and Meham.
The Indian Meteorological Department stated in a tweet, "Ongoing rainfall spell with moderate thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds and hail over Northwest India is likely to continue during next 48 hours and abate thereafter."
Hailstorm in Himachal, Uttarakhand
The IMD also predicted isolated hailstorms in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on April 14 and 15.
Meanwhile, hailstorms are expected in isolated areas of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on April 16, according to another tweet from IMD.
According to IMD, an intense western disturbance in the form of a cyclonic circulation lies over northeast Iran, with an embedded trough in the middle and upper troposphere westerlies roughly along Long.
