Railway minister shares glimpse of India's first bullet train station in Ahmedabad | Watch Video
New Delhi, December 8: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Friday shared the glimpse of India's first bullet train station at the Sabarmati Multimodal Transport Hub, in Ahmedabad. The station, a pivotal component of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (HSR) corridor, is witnessing rapid construction progress.
This groundbreaking project, linking Mumbai and Ahmedabad, spans 508 km, with 448 km elevated, 26 km in tunnels, 10 km on bridges, and 7 km on an embankment. The Ahmedabad bullet train station notably features a sizable stainless steel mural portraying the historic Dandi march led by Mahatma Gandhi during the Salt Satyagraha movement against British rule.

The station's colossal 1,33,000 square metre area comprises twin structures intended for offices, commercial ventures, and retail spaces catering to passengers' needs. The National High-Speed Rail Corporation (NHRCL) recently reported completion of approximately 15% of the civil work at the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) Station, a critical segment of the corridor, aiming for overall completion by 2027.
BKC Station, designed specifically for 16-coach bullet trains, is the sole underground station on this high-speed rail route. Its extensive excavation has reached a depth of 32 metre, covering 4.8 hectares of land. The station's construction involves three floors housing the platform, concourse, and service area, with the platform situated about 24 meters below ground level.
The ambitious project anticipates a peak workforce of around 6,000 individuals daily during construction. The Ahmedabad Transport Hub stands as a testament to India's stride toward a modern, efficient railway network.
