Raja Raghuvanshi murder case: Autopsy reveals brutal head injuries; his wife Sonam prime accused in brutal killing
PTC Web Desk: In a sensational twist to the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, investigators have confirmed that his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, is among the prime accused in the brutal killing. The shocking revelations, including details from the post-mortem report, have intensified public attention on the high-profile case spanning multiple states.
According to Herbert Pyniaid Kharkongor, chief of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and SP (City) of East Khasi Hills in Meghalaya, the autopsy report confirmed that Raja sustained two grievous head injuries, likely inflicted by a sharp-edged weapon, suggesting a deliberate and violent act. “Post-mortem indicates two sharp-cutting head wounds,” Kharkongor stated.
The body of Raja Raghuvanshi, reportedly missing for days, was recovered after a complex investigation led by the Meghalaya Police. The breakthrough came following the arrest of four suspects and the surrender of Raja's wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh.
The SIT chief detailed that four suspects were taken into custody, and the Meghalaya team is currently working to secure transit remand to bring all accused, including Sonam, to Shillong for further interrogation. “Our teams have been dispatched to both Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Despite difficult terrain and adverse weather conditions, we were able to retrieve the body and initiate formal proceedings,” Kharkongor told ANI.
He also noted initial leads suggest that Raja and Sonam shared a strained relationship, although further investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the murder.
The investigation took a dramatic turn with the revelation of Sonam’s alleged extramarital affair with one Raja Kushwaha, based in Indore. According to Rajesh Dandotiya, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP), Indore, Sonam, 25, was involved with Kushwaha and allegedly played an active role in the conspiracy to murder her husband.
It is alleged that Kushwaha hired three men—Vishal Chauhan, Anand Kumar, and Akash Rajput—to execute the murder. Sonam reportedly shared her husband’s location with the assailants, aiding the execution of the crime.
The murder appears to be a pre-planned act, with chilling coordination between Sonam and the hired killers, officials added.
Viral twist: Wedding video resurfaces
Adding a bizarre layer to the unfolding story, a wedding video of the accused couple, Sonam and Raja, has now gone viral on social media, with netizens expressing shock at the contrast between the couple’s apparent past happiness and the current grim reality.
