Sec 144 imposed in Chandigarh: The Chandigarh administration has imposed Section 144 in the Union Territory ahead of the farmers' protest march on February 13. For the unversed, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), a coalition of various farmer unions, alongside the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, has recently unveiled plans for a 'Delhi Chalo' march on Tuesday.

Imposing Section 144 in UT, the Chandigarh Police stated that keeping the possibility of 'annoyance, agitation and disturbance' in view, the UT administration has made "adequate law and order arrangements and section 144 Cr.P.C. has been imposed in the city for a period of 60 days."

The order further reads that the "ban is imposed on gathering/assembly of 5 or more people, taking out processions, demonstrations, march pasts on foot or with tractor trolleys and other vehicles, and carrying any sticks, rods or weapons for the aforesaid purpose. "
