Shocking! Chandigarh’s Class 7 girl physically abused by her schoolmates

Chandigarh, May 24: A shocking incident came to light on Tuesday in which a class 7 student of Chandigarh’s government school was physically abused by her schoolmates repeatedly at different locations.  

As per the information collected, among five of her schoolmates, one of the accused is her classmate, four others are students of Class 9.

The student has been physically abused several times and the crime took place at different locations including the park. 

After committing the crime, the accused blackmailed the victim to remain silent, however noticing the change in behavior, victim’s mother questioned the school authorities about it. 

On May 18, the victim confided in one of her teachers about the crime. The teacher subsequently discussed the matter with her colleagues and informed the principal, leading to a report being made to the Child Helpline ‘1098’ but however the police remained tight-lipped, citing sensitivity of case

Representatives from the Child Helpline promptly arrived at the school, and the victim and her mother were called in. The police were also informed.

In a major development , all the five school boys- one of Class 7 aged 13 and four others, all aged 14-15, are students of Class 9 of her school have been booked under Sections 376 AB (committing rape on a woman under 12 years of age) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), along with Section 4 (penetrative sexual assault) and 6 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Moreover, as per the investigation the girl has been exploited for nearly a year.
