Tiger Shroff firing: Amritsar link emerges in probe as security agencies hunt for weapon supplier

PTC News Desk: The investigation into the firing at Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff's car case has unraveled Amritsar link with the security agencies now hunting for the man who supplied a pistol and 20 rounds used in the attack.

According to the sources the weapons have been supplied by an Amritsar-based man,, who is suspected to have procured them from Pakistan.

Punjab Police sources said Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the ISI, has been smuggling weapons into Punjab on a large scale, mainly using drones. They said Punjab has alerted central security agencies about the rise in cross-border arms smuggling, warning that these weapons could reach gangsters and terrorists operating anywhere in the country.

In previous attacks allegedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, weapons traced to Punjab have been used to target film personalities.

After the firing outside actor Salman Khan’s home in Mumbai’s Bandra area in April 2024, Mumbai Police arrested two alleged arms suppliers from Sangrur. The Delhi Police Special Cell’s investigation also found that the weapon had been supplied by a man based in Amritsar.

According to media reports, Delhi Police arrested four people in connection with the case: Kunal, 21, and Sumit, 19, from Sonipat, and Radha, 23, and Babita, 23, from Uttar Pradesh.

Police said Kunal, who had recently been released on bail, was introduced to Anil Pandit, a 32-year-old gangster originally from Panipat who is now based in the US and is allegedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

Following Pandit’s instructions, Kunal and Sumit allegedly collected a pistol and 20 rounds of ammunition from Amritsar. They allegedly fired three rounds at actor Tiger Shroff’s car near Pushpa Park in Juhu as he was leaving a football ground. Shroff escaped unharmed, but his driver was injured.

Hours later, a man identifying himself as Anil Pandit claimed responsibility for the attack in a video. He also warned that anyone in the film industry working with Salman Khan could be targeted next.

Punjab Police regularly report recovering weapons smuggled across the international border. On September 14, DGP Gaurav Yadav said the Counter Intelligence wing had busted 92 terror modules and arrested 686 suspected terrorists since March 2022.

During the same period, the police recovered 54 rifles, 599 revolvers and pistols, 131 hand grenades, 38 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and 28.887 kg of RDX. They also intercepted 952 drones out of 1,493 reported sightings.
