Tiger Shroff firing: One accused worked with Rapido, was inactive for four days

PTC News Desk: Rapido has issued a clarification after reports linked one of the three accused in the firing incident involving Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff to its ride-hailing platform. Hrithik Kumar, 22, along with two other men, has been arrested for allegedly firing at the actor’s car in Mumbai’s Juhu area on October 18.

After the arrests, reports emerged that Kumar worked as a gig worker with Rapido. The company clarified that although he was registered on its platform as a ‘captain’ (driver or rider), he had not been active since October 14, four days before the shooting.

Rapido also said that Kumar used its services as a customer on the day of the incident.

"We are deeply concerned by the incident involving Mr. Tiger Shroff and his team, and we are relieved that he is safe. We wish him a swift recovery," Rapido said in an official statement.

It added, "We are aware of media reports mentioning an individual registered as a captain on the Rapido platform. He has not been active as a captain on our platform since 14th October. As is common in India's larger gig economy, individuals may be registered with several platforms at the same time."

Kumar, who belongs to Begusarai in Bihar, has completed Class 12 and had been living in Mumbai for nearly two months before the shooting.

The other two accused have been identified as Phool Singh Naresh, 18, and Rehan Rahiussudin, 22. Both are from Haryana. The three men were arrested on Monday, October 19, after police caught them aboard the Pune-Jaipur Superfast Express when it arrived in Kota, Rajasthan. Mumbai Police also recovered a motorcycle allegedly used in the shooting from the Andheri area of Mumbai.

According to police officials, Tiger Shroff’s driver and an autorickshaw driver were injured in the incident. The actor escaped with gunpowder-related burns on his arm, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said.

Tiger Shroff targeted in firing incident

Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff was reportedly targeted in a firing incident in Mumbai’s Juhu area on Sunday while returning home after playing football. The actor is safe and did not suffer any gunshot injuries. According to the reports, three rounds were fired at his BMW. His driver was admitted to Nanavati Hospital and is currently undergoing treatment. Overseas-based gangsters Anil Pandit and Harman Sandhu allegedly claimed responsibility for the firing in a social media post issued in the name of the Lawrence Bishnoi group. However, PTC News does not independently verify the claims.

A video later surfaced in which a man identifying himself as Anil Pandit and claiming links to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang said Tiger Shroff was on their hit list. He allegedly claimed that the actor had ignored their instructions and was working with Salman Khan.

Lawrence Bishnoi, who is currently lodged in a Gujarat jail, has repeatedly threatened to kill Salman Khan. Tiger Shroff and Salman Khan have not appeared together in a full-length feature film, but they share several connections within the film industry. Salman reportedly played a role in Tiger’s entry into Bollywood by advising producer Sajid Nadiadwala to launch him.

Tiger’s father, Jackie Shroff, has worked with Salman in several major films. The two actors have also shared public platforms and often praised each other’s fitness and dedication to action films.
