Tourists stranded in Uttarakhand after landslide washes away Badrinath highway

Landslide in Uttarakhand: The National Highway 7 in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district has been blocked after a landslide was reported near Badrinath highway and washed away part of key highway. 

The landslides occurred at Badrinath highway brought traffic to a halt.

Numerous tourists heading towards Badrinath faced inconvenience due to the landslide. 

The landslide took place three days after landslides occurred at multiple locations between Mandi and Pandoh, bringing traffic to a halt.

A lengthy traffic jam spanning from Nerchowk to Mandi occurred on the Chandigarh-Manali highway on Monday due to road blockage between Mandi and Pandoh in Mandi district.

As per the data collected, heavy rainfall in several parts of Himachal Pradesh including Mandi, Kullu, Manali and Pandoh resulted in widespread havoc. The torrential downpour led to landslides, blocking a total of 32 roads across the district.

IMD issues orange alert 

Indian Meteorological Department issued an orange alert for next few days in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Goa, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. The weather department has predicted torrential rain across Uttarakhand till July 5.

Meanwhile, IMD issued flash flood alerts; the water level has also been increased in the low-lying areas.
