The matter has been scheduled for clarification on charge framing by the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) on December 20, 2023.
The court is hearing arguments on the charges against former WFI Chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in a harassment case.
In response to the arguments of the accused's defence counsel, additional public prosecutor Atul Srivastav filed written submissions.
According to the statements of the witnesses/victims, they were molested in various locations, including abroad and in different parts of India, including a location under the jurisdiction of PS Connaught Place.
On November 28, complainant women wrestlers filed written submissions in the sexual harassment case against MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
Previously, the accused- Singh- had already filed his written submissions by the given date. On October 30, the court summoned the counsel, who appeared to be repeating the arguments on charges.
ACMM had requested that all parties' counsels file written submissions. On a lighter note, the judge had quoted an old English saying, "When not able to clarify, just confuse." "You're confusing me, Counsel," he said to the defence attorney.
In the order, ACMM Jaspal stated, "After hearing the arguments for a while this court encourages the three counsels for parties to file a written compilation of arguments. So that the arguments can be concluded in a systematic manner."
The court noted that the defence counsel, Rajiv Mohan, argued that this court lacks jurisdiction to try any alleged offence committed outside India because the sanction under Section 188 Crpc has not been obtained.
