New Year 2021: Amid the threat of a new mutant strain of coronavirus across the world, several states in India have re-imposed certain restrictions on public gatherings including night curfew ahead of New Year celebrations. Several state governments announced guidelines ahead of New Year 2021 celebrations to control the further spread of COVID-19. Here's the list of states that have imposed restrictions on New year's celebrations: Maharashtra: The state government has imposed a Night curfew from 11 pm to 6 am that will remain in effect till January 5 even as non-essential shops will remain close during the night. No celebrations will be permitted in public places in Mumbai, Pune and other big cities of the state. Likewise, the churches have been directed not to hold open-air masses. Punjab: Night curfew from 10 pm to 5 am till January 1 while mass gatherings at weddings, parties and other events have been banned.
